Redaction in joomla administrator

Redaction in joomla administrator

I just wanted to say that I love your Redaction plugin.
I hate the fact that Phoca Gallery is now trying to change my database without my permission.

Is there anyway that I can make the redaction plugin work with the backend administrator area?
I want to remove all the links and annoying banners  Phoca Gallery puts in the administrator area that distract my clients with junk.

Thanks again for the great plugin any help on this would be great.
I would also like to remove some of the virtuemart images and links in the administrator, so any help there, would also be appreciated.

[edited post to add a subject]

You would have to customize that yourself. Although I can't agree with Jan's (Phoca) stance on blocking the redaction plugin, I am really only offended by code that insists on making itself visible to the end user. Reminding an administrator that they're getting value from something is less bothersome. If I had a client who might be sensitive to this sort of thing, I would just edit the code manually.

Re: Redaction in joomla administrator

It sounds like you're running PHP4. but it shouldn't mess up the back end. Nevertheless, to manually remove the plugin go to /plugins/system/ and remove redact.php and redact.xml.

And really, you should test everything on a copy of your site, not on a live site!

And thanks for the help as well. How do I know whether the server has PHP5 or not?

Re: Redaction in joomla administrator

In the admin back end, under the Help menu, pick "System Info" and you'll see the version.

Not many servers run PHP4 these days, it reached product end-of-life at the end of 2007, and not even security updates have been available after 2008-08-08. If you host is still running PHP4, it's time to switch to us!

Re: Redaction in joomla administrator

smile, very good...
but my system info says: PHP Version:        5.2.4-2ubuntu5
Maybe not the newest in the world, but not 4, right? So I'm all yours big_smile

So why is it that i got myself in that "everything gone" situation, when I enabled the module?

Well, the next possibility is a runaway rule... what were you using for the rule set?
